Day 22: Reflections

Verse 1
See, there’s a danger in being on top, or one of the very best:
A lot of people wanna see you drop, but the scariest
Part of it is
They know they love what you do
And how you do it and they wouldn’t want any less
From you
So I’m confused
Is this street fighting or kung fu?
Is it about the war of art or is Sun Tzu
The only one that ever had secrets on the struggle
Let me address some of the issues that bug you
Like the lengths we all go through just to get some recognition
Was Machiavelli right or was he simply fishing
When he said there’s no heaven for a G, what was he missing?
Is there a plan, is there a purpose, is there a mission?
Is there a reason we try to identify our existence
Stay insistent on reflecting on our reason for living
Pushing the boundaries of our treasonous bleeding
But if sacrifices required no blood death wouldnt elicit grieving

Hook
I sit back while I’m reflecting
Looking in the mirror, mind filled with reflections
Thinking past, future and present
Guess its time to reflect and learn a few lessons

Verse 2
The old heads say we new school kids are so foolish
And we think they old school, old fashioned, or just prudish
When they tell you “Youngin’ pull your pants up”
But your pants stuck
way below your waist
And you can’t imagine ’em in another place
“That’s not how a responsible man should dress”
But you wonder what dress codes from the 70s
Have to do with the twenty first
Century’s
And you laugh at their memories
Mind catching fire like Catnis Everdeen
Never thinking that in just a few short years
You’d agree with their views, what have you got here?
They say age is supposed to come with a certain level of wisdom
But if we learn from the aged we could expand our freedom
Liberty
Is not just liberty to do anything
But the freedom to choose right and not be libertine
I’m thinking ‘Lord deliver me’
From Eve’s evils
Alcoholic tendencies, tobacco and nicotine

Hook
I sit back while I’m reflecting
Looking in the mirror, mind filled with reflections
Thinking past future and present
Guess its time to reflect and learn a few lessons

Verse 3
The man in the mirror is staring back at me
Daring me to hear him or fear him for being being part of me
Most of the time I can’t even look myself in the eye
Cos I’m scared to death of what i’m gone find
So I reflect on my thoughts while I avoid me
Hoping my reflections don’t reflect what your boy sees
Running through the back of his mind
It’s all so much to unravel, I need time to unwind

Hook
I sit back while I’m reflecting
Looking in the mirror, mind filled with reflections
Thinking past, future and present
Guess its time to reflect and learn a few lessons
